Day 6: Entebbe, 2 tales

For Wednesday, instead of telling the chronological events of my day I will tell two stories.

Story 1: As we were waiting for our food in a hut by the lake (see photos), a lady selling jewelry approached me asking if she could show me her items. I have been carrying around a Gideon Life Book (the gospel of John) to give to someone who was not a Christian.  I said yes to her resquest and as she un-packed her handmade things I asked if there was a church nearby that she went to. She said yes so I asked her what type of church was it and she said "born again". "Are you a born again believer?" I asked.  "Yes," she said.

We talked about the church a little more and where it was located.  After she left, Joshua, my friend who I was with, said that church was not a good church because they had false prophets.  That thought has not even crossed my mind.  I had been so intend on giving the book to a non-believer I had not really considered possible "confused believers"! Life and learn I guess.

Story 2: Since we need to wait another hour for the person we were waiting for to show up for lunch, we moved to another location. It was called the Aero Beach and it had all these statues of past Ugandan presidents, military leaders, the Queen of England, and even President Obama  (which I recognized only after I took the photo). There was also a beach, an old real airplane, and airplane and other statues.

While we were there, a huge group of young school children came from a Muslim school to enjoy the beach and DJ music. There were probably about 200 of them.  Of course, I wanted to play with them (i had packed a small beach ball in case of children) so within a few minutes I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and engaged with them. I had Not planned to get wet but suddenly the children were all around me pulling me down. I wish I could post the video of me nearly "drowning" in a water fight but can't because of limitation in technology.

As I was playing with them in the water and in the sand , I caught the words of one song, "Jesus is the only way". A little boy was singing these words along to the song crystal clear. "Odd," I thought, "what an interesting choice for a Muslim school."

Anyway, just two things that suprised me and encouraged me to look deeper beyond how things appear.
