Monday and Tuesday were similar in that I started each morning being quite sick because of my anti-malaria pills
(I know it's them because I started them before leaving home & was sick) and because of traveling and change in food (high fiber, low water= not good). I was not hungry either day and barely made it through a 1 cup of food a meal, sometimes skipping a meal all together.
However, I still had fun adventurers. On Monday afternoon I spent time picking up things I was not able to pack because my bags were maxed out on weight. There are such colorful dresses! And so many little shops and and such a variety of things, luggage, clothes, metal bunk beds, bricks, food, etc. Each shop seemed to carry specify items although there were a LOTS of women's clothing shops.
Riding in the taxi (packed passenger vans) and on the boda boda (motorcycle) are quite the experiences in themselves. The drivers have to navigate busy streets fuller than the mall on Black Friday. Boda boda go in between and around vehicles often bumping into another boda as they pass. Boda boda driver and one to two passengers streak through the streets when they get to open places. Only one word for it. C-R-A-Z-Y. I'm not sure if they are really good or really bad at it because when you arrive you are left amazed that you slipped through so many tight spots.
I'm getting good at it though.
On Tuesday afternoon I met with my contact person to go over what I would be teaching at the school in Kasese. We had luck together and all the pleasantries took long to get through. It looks like I'll be teaching quite a lot of different groups and I hope I'll be ready for it. A ladies groups, two children's groups, a youth group, and a business group. I think. Plans could change. Two big things in Africa, flexible plans and everything takes long time to do. No rushing anything.
Since I was not able to complete my lesson plans before I left home, I need to organize my lessons more and probably again later after I get there. I did manage to swim at a pool and play a bit of table pool with friends one evening. Figuring out how to get a sim card for my phone was interesting. Especially since I was feeling feverish, however, I got back to the shade I realized it was just the sun. Ha ha. It is cooler in Entebbe than on the villages because it's by Lake Victoria (think Great Lakes).
