There are a million ways I could start my first post on my Uganda tales blog but let's keep the focus where it is suppose to be. The heart of this trip is to glorify God. The following are just a few verses that I want to hold on to.
Mark 16:15 (ESV)
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV)
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
John 3:16-17 (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Philemon 6 (NIV)
I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:7 (ESV)

So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
To answer the question "Why go?" Because Jesus said to. Because no matter where we are located the workers are few and there is a great harvest to bring in. Because God loves everyone and knows the best thing for us. Because I'm willing. Because I can deepen my understanding of God by learning from others and they from me.
As to "Why Africa?" Honestly, because I want to. Because of the millions of butterflies I get in my heart every time I pondered going to Africa since I was 12 years old. "Why Uganda?" Well, that's a story for another time.
And because God gives the growth, I can relax knowing that the best "Fixer of hearts" is on the job. In the mean time, I'll just do a little gardening.
yeap its cool
